A company’s spokesman said the NTT previously had handed GPS data over to authorities in times of crisis, mostly connected to crime investigations. “If requested, we provided positional information using the GPS systems on phones to emergency services such as the police, ambulance services and the Japan Coast Guard, in line with proper guidelines,” the spokesman told The Japan Times. Current smartphone models notify a user when their position is being accessed by a third party....

For those unaware, LastPass was involved in another data breach incident in August 2022 that allowed an unauthorized party gain access to portions of the LastPass development environment through a single compromised developer account for four days until they were detected and removed. The hackers stole snippets of the company’s source code and some proprietary technical information. However, no data within users’ vaults, personal information, or master passwords were compromised in the August incident....

The first set of leaked photos of the alleged Moto X 2015 phone came from a report over GForGames. The report showed images of the phone’s chassis, with its parts still missing. However, the most significant thing about the photo is that it has an opening for what it looked like a fingerprint scanner. LG Innotek, a subsidiary owned by the Korean tech giant states that it’s developed a 15 watt wireless charging module, making it three times faster than the current five-watt wireless solutions. However, researchers have now uncovered three exploits in the ‘data link layer’ of LTE network that allows hackers to control Internet traffic and redirect regular users to malicious or phishing websites and spy on their online activity without their knowledge to find out which sites they visit through their LTE device. The vulnerabilities are said to be built into the LTE standard itself, and affect the second layer of LTE, known as the data link layer....

Though Apple had introduced the technology for delivering automated security updates to its OS two years ago, but it hadn’t been used until this week. In this case, Apple spokesman Bill Evans told Reuters, the company wanted to protect customers as quickly as possible due to the severity of the vulnerabilities. “The update is seamless,” Evans said. “It doesn’t even require a restart.” The NTP vulnerabilities were discovered by Google Security Team researchers Neel Mehta and Stephen Roettger, and were detailed in a recent alert from the Industrial Control Systems Cyber Emergency Response Team (ICS-CERT) and are published on Techworm here....

There are 2 types of the Microsoft’s Notebooks one for educational purpose and the other is for consumer market. Both the new budget Microsoft’s Laptops will be powered by the Intel’s Bay Trail-T CR (BTCR) which is a low power processor and it will have a 11.6 inch display. The only difference here is that the model for educational market will be manufactured by Elitegroup Computer Systems’ (ECS) and it will be sold for around $179 /€165 through the education channel that Intel and ECS built for their Classmate PC products....

It looks like the U.S. software giant has gone a step further by quietly ending sale for both the Windows 7 Professional and Windows 8 licences, which now can no longer be purchased with a new PC. According to Microsoft’s rules, the company stopped selling Windows 7 Professional or any version of Windows 8.1 to retailers or OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) as of October 31. Other versions of Windows 7 and Windows 8, such as Home Basic, Home Premium and Ultimate were already no longer available for sale....

The Redmond based tech giant has designed a custom ROM for Xiaomi Mi 4 which, a elite band of users are testing. The custom ROM is pretty much like what other Android ROMs are available worldwide, the only difference is that these custom ROMs like CyanogenMOD run on Android which Microsoft’s version will run on Windows 10. The testing which was done in collaboration with Xiaomi and will mean installing Windows 10 ROM on Xiaomi Mi 4....

However, just days ahead of its release, a few alleged screenshots of Microsoft’s upcoming operating system were published on China’s Tieba Baidu site on Tuesday offering insight to its features. Additionally, a Windows 11 disc image (an ISO file) has also been circulating on the web. Tom Warren of The Verge who downloaded a copy of the “Windows 11 build 21996.1” has confirmed that the leaked ISO is genuine. Researchers at MIT’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab (CSAIL) have addressed the congestion issues with MegaMIMO 2.0, which can transfer data over Wi-Fi more than three times faster than current options, with double the range....

The company is taking this step to comply with the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), which came into effect on January 1, 2020. The CCPA is essentially the U.S. equivalent of Europe’s GDPR privacy policy, which went into effect in 2018.
