TCP Fast Open is a new feature of Microsoft Edge that speeds up the web browser’s page loading time by over 10% on average, and in some cases up to 40%. TCP Fast Open is an extension of the TCP protocol that enables data exchange during TCP’s initial handshake. Currently, the feature is only available in preview versions of Microsoft Edge available on Fast and Slow Ring Insider Builds. The Justice Department filed a letter in a US District Court on Friday telling a judge that it still wants Apple to extract pictures, text messages and other digital data from an iPhone used by someone accused of trafficking in methamphetamines. Things started to go wrong when users were prompted to update from version 3.9.7 to 3.9.8. Later, the extension prompted for an extra permission to “Read and change all your data on the websites you visit.” Before taking users to their desired destinations, the extension was redirecting users’ HTTP traffic through a proxy service, and showing them an extra page with ads in 50% of the hijacked sessions. Florian Bogner, a researcher with security firm Kapsch, has discovered an exploit that takes advantage of antivirus programs. Dubbed as ‘AVGater’, this exploit takes advantage of the ‘restore from quarantine’ feature found on many antivirus programs, wherein the malware is relocated from an AV quarantine folder and stored on to another sensitive location. Apparently, the flaw CVE-2019-2102 is related to the connections that take place over the Bluetooth Low Energy or BT LE protocol. This means that attackers within close proximity of a Bluetooth LE connection could remotely send arbitrary keystrokes without the knowledge of the user. “You may experience issues pairing, connecting or using certain Bluetooth devices after installing security updates released June 11, 2019.
