Researchers at Israeli cybersecurity firm Check Point discovered a new variant of the Joker Dropper and Premium Dialer spyware inside legitimate apps on the Play Store. Joker-infested apps with the latest variant are estimated to have been downloaded around 500,000 times before they were removed by Google. How Does This Malware Work? According to the researchers, the new updated Joker malware can download additional malware on unsuspecting users’ device, which in turn makes them subscribe to premium services and siphon off their money without permission....

According to Android Police, who managed to obtain some information from a test preview version of Allo said that the app will have an Incognito chat mode, which is essentially a more privacy-focused aspect of the app. The chats can have an expiry within Incognito mode. Better safe than sorry The upgrade in the bounty program should not come as a surprise to those aware of the recent malware attacks. Its been days since news of the Judy malware attack broke. For those unfamiliar with it, the attack consisted of a number of apps that existed on the Play Store which would install adware onto their user’s devices. There were reports that over 40 apps were infected with this malware – one that managed to get past Google’s malware filters and although Google did remove these apps from their Play Store, it is being reported that those 40 apps were cumulatively downloaded over 40 million times....

Researchers from the University of South Carolina, Zhejiang University in China, and Qihoo 360 (a Chinese security firm) has found a potential flaw in Tesla’s AutoPilot semi-autonomous driving system. The team was able to exploit weaknesses in the system that lead researcher and USC Professor Wenyuan Xu said “highly motivated people” could use “to cause personal damage or property damage.” The group will report its findings at the DEFCON Hacking Conference in Las Vegas, which used off-the-shelf products to carry out the hack....
