All the Google Pixel smartphone owners out there will agree on one thing, its awesome Camera App. Among other things that make Google Pixel and Pixel XL stand out among the Android smartphones is its superior camera App. Now you can have this awesome Camera App running on your Android smartphone as well, thanks to the marvelous folks at XDA Forums. A 4pda Forum member B-S-G, had ported the app “Google Camera” to Android smartphones and tablets last month. The only caveat was that the Android smartphone/tablet has to run on one of several Qualcomm Snapdragon processors. Today B-S-G updated his ported Google Pixel Camera App so that it now runs on almost all Android devices. To add more awesomeness to the Google Pixel Camera App B-S-G has also added many more features to the Camera App including Zero Shutter Lag. The port was made available on 4pda Forum but now is also available on XDA Forum. Though ported by a Ukrainian, the app itself is fully English – not that it’d have to be, since controls are super simple. This app version comes with base version 4.4.020.163412804 – basically the newest for the Pixel. Android smartphone/tablet who own devices with Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, 821, or 835 can use this port and get the Google Pixel Camera on their smartphone. Do remember that the Pixel Camera port is still a work in progress, so not every Android smartphone with one of these processors will get the full collection of top-notch features. Even then, installing the Google Pixel Camera App on Android smartphone makes sense because the newest version of this APK includes auto HDR+. Without HDR+, the app takes a lot longer to save. The latest version also adds “zero shutter lag” to devices running HDR+ as said above. Replies on the XDA Forum thread indicate that those who own Nexus 5X and the Nexus 6P and have ported the APK to their smartphone have found it tremendously useful. You too can install the Google Pixel Camera APK on your Android smartphone provided it has one of the Qualcomm Snapdragon processors on their smartphone. You can download the APK through this XDA post. Remember, installing third party Camera App (APK) can void your warranty.
