A Twitter account affiliated to Anonymous had tweeted a message for the Garland PD on Friday, 1 May, 2015 two days before two IS supporters were shot down by Police for firing at a Free Speech event.
It seems that Police chose not to take the Anonymous’s tweet seriously and two days later Elton Simpson (30), and his roommate, Nadir Soofi (34), from Phoenix, Arizona, opened fire on an unarmed security guard at the Curtis Culwell Center. A woman informed the Daily Dot website that Anonymous had come across a Twitter handle @AnsarAlUmmah49 which contained a reference about the upcoming event at Garland. The Garland PD spokesperson said that they had not heard of such a message. Jon Darn, speaking for Garland PD said, “That is the first time I’ve heard that. We were monitoring things; we had the FBI and ATF, but we didn’t see anything [on Twitter].” Anonymous have been at the forefront in the fight against the Islamic State, its affiliations and supporters under the #OpIsis and so far released 30000 Twitter handles belong to them including many Facebook Pages and bring hundreds of pro IS websites down.
